How Much Is Coke’s (Dasani) Relative Market Share Position (RMSP) in the USA Bottled Water Industry?

Nestle’s market share of bottled water in the USA is 29.8%, followed by Niagara (23.3%), Coke’s Dasani (5.8%), DS Waters (5.7%), Pepsi’s Aquafina (4.1%), and Premium Waters (3.1%). Can you calculate Dasani’s RMSP? (Answer Given Below). Nestle’s brands include Poland Springs, Perrier, and Pure Life. Nestle’s water home-delivery revenues are growing twice as fast as their shipments to brick-and-motor stores. People don’t want to carry something heavy from a store, so they increasingly are ordering online, and Nestle delivers water to your door– in whatever size bottle or amount you desire – not just the five-gallon, 40-pound jugs commonly delivered to houses and offices. Nestle reports that its water sales to U.S. homes and small businesses rose 14 percent in volume in 2014, compared with a 7.8 percent increase to stores. For Q1 of 2015, Nestle’s sales of water to homes and small businesses rose 21 percent, compared with a 5.5 percent increase in its sales of water to retail outlets. (Answer: 19.46%)
